Announcing OYFF’s New Program & Development Coordinator

Pearl Chen, our committed former board member and program and development assistant, has now been promoted to program and development coordinator. She is the first birthmother to lead programming for OYFF. Ms. Chen is now the main point person for our clients and will continue assisting with our development projects.

We’re looking forward to working with her in this new position!

Expanding the OYFF Network

As part of our effort to broaden our impact throughout California and increase our community partners network, we’ve been reaching out to diverse organizations. Last month, On Your Feet met with the San Francisco Domestic Violence Consortium to deliver a presentation on birthmothers and the link with domestic violence.

Six different nonprofits serving domestic violence survivors were represented and all were very interested and curious to learn about the experiences of birth mothers.

In the end, they took with them tools to screen for birthmothers when intaking new clients. All were thankful to be more informed and aware of the plight of birthmothers.

Client Retreat Updates

The Fall Retreat Evaluation Results Are In!

The results of our client evaluations of our last Northern California retreat have now been tallied and we are excited to report that our clients gave the retreat high ratings. The small group sessions were especially well received and 100% of clients recommended having our new retreat support therapist, Cammy Froude, return to future retreats.

Our Upcoming SoCal Retreat

We are happy to report that we’ve had an overwhelming response to our new retreat location in Southern California and that registration for this first SoCal retreat in November is already full. If you’re interested in getting on our waitlist, please click here and fill out the form. The planning for this retreat is now in full swing!

Wellness Resources for Survivors of Trauma

The stories of sexual assault survivors have been brought to light during recent events. At OYFF, we understand that these stories may hit close to home for some of our clients. If you are struggling with trauma related to sexual assault, you can call the National Sexual Assault Hotline at 1-800-656-4673. For longer-term therapy plans, please feel free to contact our Program Coordinator, Pearl Chen, at [email protected] to learn more about our wellness grants.
