Academic and Life Goals Grants
Birth mothers / first mothers who have placed their child in California, or lived in California at the time of placement are eligible.
MPower Alliance meets birthmothers / first mothers where they are on their professional and educational paths.
Past grant recipients have completed degrees and certificates ranging from a G.E.D. or medical assistant to a Master’s degree. We also provide grants for educational support, including books, fees, supplies or transportation.
MPower Alliance grants support your educational and life goals by empowering you to direct your own path. Achieving an educational or professional goal translates powerfully across the board to other life areas, such as parenting skills, successful relationships, personal wellness and other achievements. Our Empowerment Initiatives section features ways in which birth/first mothers have met with an expanded sense of personal power as a result of receiving services from MPA.

An academic and life skills grant can fund tuition, which will be paid directly to the school. The school must be an accredited institution. Funds can also cover specific needs, such as: uniforms, supplies, preparation classes, laptops or transportation.
An education/life skills grant can NOT fund already existing debt or living expenses. If you already have a master's degree, you are not eligible to receive a grant in this area.
MPA education grants are issued for one semester/quarter or one vocational goal. If you complete the term or meet your original goal, you are eligible to apply for another MPA education grant.
